Civil structures for the Kashagan production facilities

The first Kashagan production facility comprises a wellhead island for two drilling rigs (about 220 x 220 m2, built in 2003), a riser island to receive the export pipelines and the pipelines to other production islands, elevated process, utility and living quarter barges, a flare and sheetpile cofferdams to support the pipeline between the barges and islands and ice protection barriers around the production units.

Witteveen+Bos Kazakhstan participated in the Front End Engineering Design Team for the design of all islands, cofferdams and barriers. We prepared detailed designs and tender documents for these structures, prepared permitting documents and participated in the tender evaluation for the offshore civil contract. WBK engineers were incorporated in the client’s construction management and supervision team.
